The final price of your product will directly depend on its total volume (amount of material used) and it is completely independent of model complexity. The price is £2.49 /cm3 +VAT. We highly encourage you to contact us for a precise quotation of your product.
File Types: .STL files are the only accepted format. If not in this format, it will not be able to be printed. We provide a STL file conversion service free of charge to convert your CAD files into STL.
File Parameters: All files must be set up to scale, inches*, and be well within the build envelope.
If there are issues with the model size, design vs. cost and timing, you will be notified. Hian Technologies is not responsible for reformatting or remodelling files, if this service is required it can be provided at an additional cost with our STL file correction service. We will contact you regarding any issue with your design before producing any part.
Note: Do not export entire assemblies or packs in a single .STL file as they may fuse when printing. For actual working assemblies that you wish to print as one fi le, please consult us beforehand.
All our final products are 3D printed using ABSplus, a production-grade thermoplastic that gives your models the ability to perform just like production parts in real-world functional testing. ABS is an ideal material for conceptual prototyping through design verification through direct digital manufacturing. This material is ideal for the rapid production of prototypes, tooling and the direct (tool-less) manufacturing of production parts.
ABS is widely used in applications where impact-resistance and structural strength are necessary. It is accurate, durable and robust enough for field testing or demonstration units. Models printed with this material have customer-proven toughness – from commercial sprayers tested at pressures up to 60 psi, to final parts on M1 tanks normally machined in aircraft-grade aluminium.

3D printing times can vary. Normally we aim to dispatch the finished models 1-5 production days after your order, depending on the size of your design and how much workload we have at the time of order. After your part is dispatched, the delivery time will depend on the chosen method and your location (see the question above). The estimated delivery date is noticed when you order online. Local customers are welcomed to pick up models from our facility.

Hian Technologies provides 3D printing service using StratasysFDM machines for producing the final models. As the creator of the technology, their machines are highly capable, and able to satisfy the most demanding manufacturing and engineering needs.
3D printed parts specifications
Layer thickness: 0.178mm (0.007”) or 0.254mm (0.01”)
Build volume: Parts shall not be bigger than 8” x 8” x 12” (203 x 203 x 304 mm)
Wall Thickness: Hian Technologies recommends maintaining a minimum 2mm wall thickness throughout the part. The minimum thickness of vertical walls is 2mm in thickness. Wall of thickness less than 2mm do not fill properly and are prone to failure. The minimum thickness of horizontal walls is 1mm but 2mm should be maintained for part strength. It is also recommended that sharp edges shouldn’t be less than .5 mm in thickness.
Speed: Our machine fabricates parts at a rate of approximately 1 cubic inch per hour. Typical parts can take anywhere from few hours to a few days. As an example, a solid block of material filling its entire build volume would take about a month to complete.
Post Processing: Following fabrication, the part needs to be cleaned in sodium hydroxide bath in order to remove the support material. This process typically takes 4 hours to complete (we just leave it overnight). Our final turnaround time for the typical part is less than 5 business days. Keep in mind that the job queue tends to grow toward the end of the semester so plan ahead!
